Since January, I’ve planned on attending Dragon*Con, the gignormous genre multimedia convention in Atlanta, Georgia at the end of August. Then, a few things happened, most of them with financial impact, and getting there at all suddenly became a very near thing.
Then, a select few pulled through with some heartwarming effort and generosity, and my flight is now in the bag. Hotel, however, is another story.
Here’s my plan:
I’m gonna hobo Dragon*Con. What does this mean?
Well, rather than batting about with my bindle like some Boston bum, I’m hoping to find some kindhearted women and men who might let me flop in their bridal chamber.
Or, to translate from the Hobo:
I’m asking for floor space to lay my head, and maybe one of your spare pillows. In return, I’ll provide you with some small service or boon — buy you a drink, breakfast or dinner, fetch you ice, hold your hair for you, or something else… it’s all negotiable. It’s important to me that I do something for my lodgers… otherwise, I’m just a bum. Hobos work for a living!
So far, Thursday night has been accommodated by the kindhearted Mur and Jim. Also, Jason, Clair, and Leann have all offered nights… but which ones?
The night of Thursday August 30th – Jim and Mur
The night of Friday August 31st – Jason
The night of Saturday September 1st – Leann
The night of Sunday September 2nd – Clair
The night of Monday September 4th – John and Laura
I’m putting it out there, folks… if you’re going to be at Dragon*Con, please let me know what you can do to help this comet cat, and what you’d like in return. Don’t say nothing!
Many thanks!
Update: kindhearted men and women have set me up. Thanks, everyone!

Andrea — thank you, and while I may yet take you up on it, with the offer of John and Laura, plus Clair, Leann, and Jason, I am probably covered.
Looking forward to seeing you guys, though!!!
Yup, you’re welcome to stay whichever night.
