What’s It All About?:
This song started as a riff Kris Shine played messing around between songs at a PIGBAT rehearsal. I don’t remember if it was drummer Jon Strunk or myself who urged Kris to keep playing it, but we jammed on it for a while and built it into a kind of grungefest.
By next practice, I had words for it — a dear friend of mine had just had his girlfriend leave him after pretty near forever, and I was many miles away, only able to offer sympathy over the phone. Roughly the same time, a high-school sweetheart, three thousand miles away, was also going through an especially rough spot. So this song is for them both, though I don’t think either one of them ever knew it!
When we performed this number live, Kris took an extended, feedback-drenched, “sonic” guitar solo in the middle. People either dug it or went to get another beer, but we had fun..! The version presented here truncates the solo, bringing the length down to a conservative six minutes…!
As with all PIGBAT tracks, I’m playing bass and singing.
