What’s It All About?
This happily cheesy rockabilly ditty was something I’d pull out during one of my human background music coffeehouse gigs when folks, well, weren’t paying enough attention to me. It woke ‘em up.
Written for a gal who provided the inspiration for several other songs: “Fearful Symmetry,” “Wild Love,” “Me And Hill Watching You,” and “She Has Gods.”
This version was recorded in a giant coffeehouse in Long Beach, California in the nineties.
Lyrics:
What’s got into me
I’m not the man I used to be
It’s so suddenly
I’m shakin’ with my need
But it’s all right
I ain’t complaining
This is the game of love
That we’re playing
I am paralysed
Lookin’ deep into your eyes
I’d swim the ocean deep and wide
If you wanted me to try
How was I to know
When we went out that night
Where it would go
Your beauty was like a shining light
I was a victim of the night
I saw you again
Didn’t know where to begin
So in love it was a sin
This game I gotta win
