This episode definitely caught my eye. Being a user of Apple products it was interesting to hear your views. You are right, it is silly for Apple to rid the world of every other use of the word “pod”. I wont argue that point at all.
I do want to comment on the Cult Of Mac. I have a little theory about it. I recently switched to Apple a little over a year ago. After using the computer I realized there was a hand full of things that were done in a better way. (your milage will very) But being a Windows user since 3.1, I have seen only one way of computing. And for the longest time I had a blind hatred of Apple computers. I only used them in school and that was very limited.
With my Mac, I found myself really happy to be at my computer. I was no longer frustrated by little mystery errors. I found myself no longer wanting to swear at the inanimate box on my desk. No more fears about getting viruses. Not all my time with Windows was bad, just most of Win98. So I felt I needed to share my new found happiness.
Now looking back I could see myself being more of a fanatic. I would put down others computers just because they were running Windows. I would try to tell them they were wrong for using Windows and should switch. Then I realized that when you attack someone, they will go on the defense. Now matter how great your cause is, people wont listen if you attack them. There in lies the problem. People want to belong to a group where they can relate to others. So after a while some people get this cult attitude.
I have sort of gone away from being so fanatical about getting people to switch. I realized I was trying to force people and that just got me no where. I still wont ever buy another Windows computer. I have been down that road and don’t plan on going back. For me the Apple computer does things far better and easier then I experienced on Windows.
So I guess to each his own.
