Sonitotum Episode One - A Song Is Born

I’ve been toying with the idea of starting a new podcast. A more personal thing… an audio companion to this blog. It was on the back burner.

Tonight, something pretty nifty happened, very spontaneously. And I knew I had to podcast it.

Meet “Makin’ Stories.”

And be careful… things get kinda loud around the two minute mark.

I am presently experiencing manga stary-eyed syndrome. Nice song, Matt. Your voice is damn good and I must admit that I didn’t know what style to expect when you listed previous involvement in musical groups in the past. I should have realised that you’d be into soft rock, given your interest in the likes of JoCo.

This is a great start to the sonitotum and I will be lurking more often now that you have the new podcast up and running. I guess that visiting the website more than twice a day makes me a fan or something. :D

P.S. Can we hear more from Felix? It was neat to hearing the invasion of the feline as you were preparing. You can always expect a cat to be where the action is!

Thanks for the kind words… although I hardly think manga starry-eyed syndrome is necessary. I’m scared to even imagine what “manga” adds to the normal starry-eyed state of affairs…!

As for being into “soft rock,” well, not so much. I consider soft rock to be bands like Bread, England Dan and John Fort-Coley (sic?) and so on.

Not dissing your opinion, mind you — just clarifying things for the record.

“Makin’ Stories” came from a day-long soup with the following ingredients:

    • …being interviewed about podcasting for an upcoming About.com article
    • …being interviewed for a podcast by Margaret Bonham, and spending a few hours on the phone post-interview with the same Ms. Bonham (who was incredibly generous with her time and twenty-published-books wisdom!)
    • …listening to twenty seconds from the latest album from one of my favorite bands, Eleventh Dream Day.

To save you the lurking, I guess now would be a good time to reveal the RSS feed for Sonitotum… I haven’t gotten around to adding a little badge for it here on the site. So: Put this address in your favorite podcasting client, and wait patiently for inspiration to strike again.

    With my thanks, of course!

No guarantees on the interaction of any cats on future episodes.

The stars are required as is the manga translation. I am a Manga-enthusiast and I think that this fits my current state of mind well.
I have found that a lot of people’s perceptions on musical genres have changed over the years. I find it hard to keep with the numerous buzz words and the new artists so I am stuck in a bubble where Fleetwood Mac and Vangelis play in my head constantly. By the way, I would never think that you are dissing me, old man. :D >pokepokecoughInsert more stars here

I finally was able to listen to your new song. Thanks for the unscripted monologue spoken word (and Felix… ;)). Being who I am I got a big kick out of the whole thing and enjoyed your new song very much. It’s been way too long since your last. I had a sweet giggle at the end because of who you are and who I am.

I’m so happy you have picked up your guitar again. Who would have imagined that vacuuming would inspire new music? LOL!

Glad you enjoyed it! I can’t say how often I’ll be singing on Sonitotum, but “unscripted monologue” is pretty much the order of the day. Sometimes it’ll make sense, other times you’ll just be privy to my verbal spewing.

    Lucky, lucky!

    Thanks!
