I've spent the better part of a month or so re-designing my web site. My goal is to create a central place not only for all of my writing, music, podcasts, and other creative endeavors, but also a central gathering place for anyone interested in my work. I want to make this site — and especially the forums — a welcome place for my peers, including my fans and my friends. If my Tribe is spread far and wide across the country and the world, please consider this site my lodge in the village, and make yourself to home.
So what's new here?
- These forums! Please help decide what they'll be like by voting in the poll on the right-hand side of the site. I have some ideas, but I want your input. After all, there are a lot more of you than there is of me. The opinion of the community is what matters when building community.
- The end of self-reference in the third person. I did this on the old site, and so you'll see remnants of it in older posts, especially for news posts. No more. It's just you and me, and we're all just folks. Restricting the first person to Scribtotum just seems silly. So that's over.
- User registration. You can't have a community without users. Please sign up (free, of course.) This will enable you to post and comment in the
forums, and comment on the blog. As time goes on and more social
plugins for WordPress emerge, I'll add more features for you to enjoy.
- All the writing stuff in one place, divided by the kind of writing it is: fiction, non-fiction, novels, short stories, and so on.
- Podcast archives. It's been three years and more, and the last podcast standing is Sonitotum, where you'll find elements of the DIY Endeavors Podcast, Five Minute Memoir, and Writers Talking. The archives of those shows can now be found on this site, available for listening and downloading.
- The Selznick Sandbox: built with MediaWiki, this is a central database for information about the worlds of my fiction, including characters, locations, concepts, and more. I'll also be building some non-fiction pieces here. It's my hope that the Sandbox will serve as a reference for folks to potentially play in my worlds.
- More blogging, durn it! I'll do a post a week, minimum. The blog is
intended to be a personal journal as well as a place to share stuff I
think is interesting.
- Monetization! Yes, you will see advertisements here. My goal is to keep them relevant, and as inobtrusive as possible. You'll see text ads on some pages, and Amazon.com and other affiliate links and graphics where appropriate. Another piece is the Mall, which will have affiliate links to Amazon.com, CD Baby, and other retailers. The idea? You're gonna shop… you most likely have an interest in supporting my work… why not put the two together?
I hope you like it here. I hope it's a lot more friendly, and I hope you participate. I'm glad you're here!

Hey Matt,
I've been hangin' around the site for a bit now and find it very easy to navigate. It's laid out well and has some great links to not only your stuff but others as well.
Can't think of anything else I'd like to see here but I'll let you know
Cheers,
Jame
