A Landmark Collaboration
In 2009, I teamed up with author J.C. Hutchins to create five songs with the conceit that they were written and performed by John Michael Smith, the folk-singer / handyman protagonist of Hutchins’ novel “7th Son: Descent.”
J.C. Hutchins provided titles and conceptual ideas for each song, from which I wrote the lyrics, music, and performed and recorded each one. The songs were released via podcast in October and November of that year in John Smith’s name as part of the promotional effort surrounding the publication of “7th Son: Descent.”
Now, the secret’s out and “Anyman: The John Smith E.P.” is available on CD or as digital downloads!
About The Album
True to the concept of John Smith being a journeyman folk-rock singer, these five tracks are presented in a raw style — most are simply performed with just vocals and guitars — as if you were right there in a coffeehouse or club, digging John Smith.
