The first step in building your audience and presence on the web is having… a presence on the web! Through my company, MWS Media, I selectively offer a portion of my available website space and bandwidth as web hosting to folks who need it for their creative endeavors.

Web Hosting Packages

I’m keeping it pretty simple. Ten gigabytes of storage space and 25 gigabytes of traffic per month for $75.00 per year or $10.00 per month. The idea here is to provide creative people — authors, artists, and small businesses — enough space and bandwidth for their purposes. Paying for “unlimited” web hosting is a waste of money if it’s much more than you’ll ever need or use.

Included Features

Every package includes ftp access to upload your site files, unlimited e-mail accounts and two databases. A number of open source web application like WordPress, Joomla, ZenCart, MediaWiki, Pligg and phpBB are available for automated and semi-automated installation, or you can hire me to install them for you.

Limits and Terms of Use

I have to abide by limitations and terms of service defined by the folks who run the servers. Therefore, when you pay me for web hosting, you agree to everything in the terms of service of the host company.

Terms of Use

When you pay for your web hosting account, you agree to abide by the applicable terms of service of the the host company. In addition, you agree to the following:

You will use your hosting space for an active web site.
You will not use your hosting space as backup or other file storage, or to serve files via torrent, peer to peer or other file sharing methods.
You will not re-sell your hosting space or any part or feature of your hosting space.
You are responsible for the security of your hosting space and the software you install on it.
You are responsible for maintaining the software on your web hosting space, including keeping up with all updates and upgrades.
You will not hold MWS Media, Matthew Wayne Selznick or the host provider responsible for any damages you suffer through the use of this service.
MWS Media, Matthew Wayne Selznick and the host company provides absolutely no warranties or guarantees whatsoever.
You will abide by all applicable terms of service imposed by the host company.
Any violation of the these terms or the terms of use of the host company may result in the immediate suspension or deletion of your web hosting space with no refunds.

When I receive notice you’ve subscribed, I’ll send you an e-mail from mwsmedia.hosting at gmail.com, so make sure your spam filters allow mail from that address. I’ll ask you the domain name you want to associate with your hosting space, the purpose of the site, and a few other questions. Do you need a domain name? I can handle the registration for you — ask me about it! Once I hear from you and approve your site, I’ll manually set up your space and send you and e-mail with all the necessary details.

WordPress Update Service

WordPress is the most popular content management service on the web today — it’s versatile and easy to use. Because it’s so popular, WordPress is sometimes the target of Internet bad guys — malware distributors and hackers — who want to inject themselves into your WordPress site and make it do their bidding. WordPress issues frequent updates and upgrades to keep up with this online arms race and add new features… and as a subscriber to MWS Media Web Hosting, it’s your responsibility to keep up on those updates.

For some of you, that might be an inconvenience or even a little intimidating. I’m happy to keep up with all the WordPress updates (including plugins, themes and add-ons) and handle the updates for you for $9.99 per month.

The WordPress upgrade service assumes your WordPress installation is version 3.0 or newer. Older versions of WordPress may require additional work to upgrade and will require an additional fee — please contact me for details.

The WordPress upgrade service assumes you have a current back-up of your WordPress site and database. By purchasing a subscription to this service, you agree that Matthew Wayne Selznick and MWS Media are not responsible for loss of data or other inconveniences stemming from the service.
