In The Afternoon

What’s It All About?

Pretty self explanatory… you might fight each other all day — it might even carry over from the night before — but eventually the only way to really get that frustrated anger and furious energy cleared away is to take it on on each other’s bodies. Carnal combat, perhaps.

Written for a doomed relationship (which also partially inspired “1991″ and “Glass”), this song didn’t really see the light of day until it was brought to life by Running Erin. This version was recorded live in a bar in Redondo Beach, California in the early aughts.

Lyrics:

“In The Afternoon” by Matthew Wayne Selznick

In the afternoon
Night will be here soon
Dark to match my mood
Laying here with you
In the afternoon

It always turns out
Whispers become shouts
Never sure what it’s about
Still we never go without

I want you
In the afternoon

Loving you is never dull
In the morning we want to bash
Each other’s skulls
With the setting of the sun
It’s time to make love
