On Sunday, July 13, 2008, I celebrated the release of the Swarm Press edition of “Brave Men Run — A Novel of the Sovereign Era” with an eight hour “webathon” on live, streaming video. Over a thousand people watched as an average of a hundred people per hour hung out, caroused, and had fun in the associated chat room.

A Rush Up The Charts

On that day, the collected audience managed to buy so many copies of “Brave Men Run,” the book reached number #53 on the Amazon.com bestseller chart, #3 on the Amazon.com action-adventure chart, and #10 on the Amazon.com genre fiction chart. The book was also the number one “mover and shaker” that day — it was the new media event of the summer!

Live Readings

As a way of giving back to the fans on that amazing day, I managed to get seven of the best podcast fiction authors to contribute short stories set in the Sovereign Era. Every hour, I performed a live reading of one of those stories. It was an Internet, new media, and publishing first!
